How to update/install additional printer drivers (x86) on Windows 7 (x64)

I have been looking for months on how to print from my Windows Vista (x86) computer to my Windows 7 (64-bit) computer where my Brother HL-2140 is connected via USB.

You must first edit the INF driver in order to install the x86 driver on the Windows 7 machine.

This is how to edit the INF so that I could install the x86 'Additional Driver':

The printer goes by the name 'Brother HL-2140' in Windows 7. However, the inf file calls out 'Brother HL-2140 series'.

1. Navigate to and download the 'Windows Vista' driver
2. Unzip the driver package into a folder.
3. Edit the INF text file (BROHL07.inf).
4. Look for [DriverName] section and change "Brother HL-2140 series" to "Brother HL-2140"
5. Your print driver will now install from the x86 Additional Drivers wizard in Windows 7! (You'll have to click through the 'Unsigned Driver' warning.)

Go to your Vista Machine and add new printer. This worked like a charm and took me a couple of months to find this solution.

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke because symptoms of a stroke can difficult to identify. Here's how a bystander can get a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and begin to get a stroke victim medically cared for within 3 hours. (The following is a summary of the data below.)

1.Ask the person to SMILE.

2.Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)(e.g., It is sunny out today.)

3.Ask the person to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

4.Ask the person to 'stick' out his Tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke.

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) .she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening

Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

I suspect that there was an office update that is causing the problem.

To delete the folder using the UI I need to

1) Close Outlook

2) Start Outlook in "Safe mode" by holding down the CRTL key when clicking the Outlook icon.

3) Delete the folder in safe mode.

4) Quit Outlook

5) Restart Outlook in normal mode.

BEST CHRISTMAS COOKIES EVER

Jose Cuervo Christmas Cookies

1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
4 large eggs
1 cup nuts
2 cups of dried fruit
1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequila

Sample the Cuervo to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo again, to be sure it is of the highest quality,pour one level cup and drink.

Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.

Add one peastoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point it's
best to make sure the Cuervo is still ok, try another cup just in case.

Turn off the mixerer thingy.

Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.

Pick the frigging fruit off the floor.

Mix on the turner.

If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaters just pry it loose with a drewscriver.

Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsisticity.

Next, sift two cups of salt, or something. Who geeves a s....t. Check the Jose Cuervo. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.

Add one table.

Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find.

Greash the oven.

Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.

Don't forget to beat off the turner.

Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Cose Juervo and make sure to put the stove in the wishdasher.

NEW MEXICO CHILI COOK OFF!

If you can read this whole story without laughing, then there's no hope for you. I was crying by the end. This is an actual account as relayed to paramedics at a chili cook-off in New Mexico.

Note: Please take time to read this slowly. If you pay attention to the first two judges, the reaction of the third judge is even better.

For those of you who have been or lived in New Mexico, you know how true this is. They actually have a Chili Cook-off about the time Halloween comes around. It takes up a major portion of a parking lot at the Santa Fe Plaza. Judge #3 was an inexperienced Chili taster named Frank, who was visiting from Springfield, IL.

Frank: "Recently, I was honored to be selected as a judge at a chili cook-off. The original person called in sick at the last moment and I happened to be standing there at the judge's table, asking for directions to the Coors Light truck, when the call came in... I was assured by the other two judges (Native New Mexicans) that the chili wouldn't be all that spicy; and, besides, they told me I could have free beer during the tasting, so I accepted and became Judge 3."

Here are the scorecard notes from the event:

CHILI # 1 - MIKE'S MANIAC MONSTER CHILE
Judge # 1 -- A little too heavy on the tomato. Amusing kick.
Judge # 2 -- Nice, smooth tomato flavor. Very mild.
Judge # 3 (Frank) -- Holy crap, what the he!! is this stuff? You could remove dried paint from your driveway. Took me two beers to put the flames out. I hope that's the worst one. These New Mexicans are crazy.

CHILE # 2 - EL RANCHO'S AFTERBURNER CHILE
Judge # 1 -- Smoky, with a hint of pork. Slight jalapeno tang...
Judge # 2 -- Exciting BBQ flavor, needs more peppers to be taken seriously.
Judge # 3 -- Keep this out of the reach of children. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to taste besides pain. I had to wave off two people who wanted to give me the Heimlich maneuver. They had to rush in more beer when they saw the look on my face.

CHILI # 3 - ALFREDO'S FAMOUS BURN DOWN THE BARN CHILI
Judge # 1 -- Excellent firehouse chili. Great kick.
Judge # 2 -- A bit salty, good use of peppers.
Judge # 3 -- Call the EPA. I've located a uranium spill. My nose feels like I have been snorting Drano. Everyone knows the routine by now. Get me more beer before I ignite. Barmaid pounded me on the back, now my backbone is in the front part of my chest. I'm getting sh*t-faced from all of the beer.

CHILI # 4 - BUBBA'S BLACK MAGIC
Judge # 1 -- Black bean chili with almost no spice. Disappointing.
Judge # 2 -- Hint of lime in the black beans. Good side dish for fish or other mild foods, not much of a chili.
Judge # 3 -- I felt something scraping across my tongue, but was unable to taste it. Is it possible to burn out taste buds? Sally, the beer maid, was standing behind me with fresh refills. This 300 lb. woman is starting to look HOT... just like this nuclear waste I'm eating! Is chili an aphrodisiac?

CHILE # 5 - LISA'S LEGAL LIP REMOVER
Judge # 1 -- Meaty, strong chili. Jalapeno peppers freshly ground, adding considerable kick. Very impressive.
Judge # 2 -- Chile using shredded beef, could use more tomato. Must admit the jalapeno peppers make a strong statement.
Judge # 3 -- My ears are ringing, sweat is pouring off my forehead and I can no longer focus my eyes. I farted, and four people behind me needed paramedics. The contestant seemed offended when I told her that her chili had given me brain damage. Sally saved my tongue from bleeding by pouring beer directly on it from the pitcher. I wonder if I'm burning my lips off. It really ticks me off that the other judges asked me to stop screaming. Screw them.

CHILE # 6 - VARGA'S VERY VEGETARIAN VARIETY
Judge # 1 -- Thin yet bold vegetarian variety chili. Good balance of spices and peppers.
Judge # 2 -- The best yet. Aggressive use of peppers, onions, garlic. Superb.
Judge # 3 -- My intestines are now a straight pipe filled with gaseous, sulfuric flames. I crapped on myself when I farted, and I'm worried it will eat through the chair. No one seems inclined to stand behind me except that Sally. Can't feel my lips anymore. I need to wipe my butt with a snow cone.

CHILE # 7 - SUSAN'S SCREAMING SENSATION CHILI
Judge # 1 -- A mediocre chili with too much reliance on canned peppers.
Judge # 2 -- Ho hum, tastes as if the chef literally threw in a can of chili peppers at the last moment. **I should take note that I am worried about judge number 3. He appears to be in a bit of distress as he is cursing uncontrollably.
Judge # 3 -- You could put a grenade in my mouth, pull the pin, and I wouldn't feel a thing. I've lost sight in one eye, and the world sounds like it is made of rushing water. My shirt is covered with chili, which slid unnoticed out of my mouth. My pants are full of lava to match my shirt. At least during the autopsy, they'll know what killed me. I've decided to stop breathing. It's too painful. I'm not getting any oxygen anyway. If I need air, I'll just suck it in through the 4-inch hole in my stomach.

CHILE # 8 - BIG TOM'S TOENAIL CURLING CHILE
Judge # 1 -- The perfect ending, this is a nice blend chili. Not too bold but spicy enough to declare its existence.
Judge # 2 -- This final entry is a good, balanced chili. Neither mild nor hot. Sorry to see that most of it was lost when Judge #3 farted, passed out, fell over and pulled the chili pot down on top of himself. Not sure if he's going to make it. Poor feller, wonder how he'd have reacted to really hot chili?
Judge # 3 - No Report.

What a GREAT Company and what GREAT people..

Brief summary of the story. (As told at a MonaVie open meeting last night - 11/18/09 in Alpharetta, GA)

This woman, I believe her name is Jenn Anderson, met Charlie and Debbie Kalb (Royal Black Diamonds in MonaVie) at Family Reunion this year in Fla. When she got home, her 8 year old daughter was diagnosed with cancer. When Debbie Kalb heard about this, she called Jenn and offered to fly her and her daughter to Florida for an American Girl Fashion Show, as Debbie remembered when that when she met them at Family Reunion, her daughter loved American Girl.

Jenn told Debbie that she would check with her daughter’s doctors to see if they could fly commercial, due to her daughter’s immune systems being near zero, and check out flights and get back to Debbie. Debbie called back the next morning and said she had called MonaVie to see if they could use their jet credits to fly her and her daughter to Florida. MonaVie said “No” you can’t use your jet credits for that. BUT, we will send the jet to pick them up and fly them wherever and whenever they want to go.

This is that day, which was this past weekend.

I don’t think there was a dry eye in the place at the open last night. What a great company and great people.

Why Woman Should Never Take Men Shopping.

After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target. I dislike shopping and she loves to browse. Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Target.

Dear Mrs. Johnson,

We cannot tolerate the commotion your husband has caused in our store over the past six months. We have been forced to ban both of you from the premises. Our surveillance cameras document the following list of complaints against your husband:

1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people's carts when they weren't looking.

2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in house wares to go off at 5-minute intervals.

3. July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom.

4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, 'Code 3 in house wares. Get on it right away. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money.

5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway.

6. August 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area.

7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged.

8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?' EMTs were called.

9. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.

10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.

11. October 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the 'Missi on Impossible' theme.

12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his 'Madonna look' by using different sizes of funnels.

13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled 'PICK ME! PICK ME!'

14. October 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed 'OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!'

And last, but not least:

15. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, and then yelled very loudly, 'Hey! There's no toilet paper in here.' One of the clerks passed out.

Syracuse, N.Y. -- It once was said that the only thing holding up old Cleveland Stadium were the spider webs that had sprouted in the joint's empty seats. And now that a kind of creeping loneliness has become part and parcel to attending football games at the Carrier Dome, we can sadly identify.

There was a time, boys and girls, when the home of the Syracuse University Orange used to sizzle on autumn Saturdays . . . and for good reason because Nittany Lions and Cornhuskers and Gators and Hurricanes and Mountaineers and Hokies -- big boys, all -- used to venture beneath the bubble and lose.

But for a while now, with even visitors named Zips having long grown comfortable putting their feet up on the Dome furniture, the place has merely sighed. And it's all laid out in the attendance numbers.

Syracuse, NY -- While waiting for Doug Marrone to fill out his staff and for recruiting to find a spark, there's a good bit of discussion taking place out there about bringing back everything old and nostalgic to Syracuse football.

- Bring back the old uniforms.

- Bring back the Saltine Warrior and get rid of Otto.

- Bring back "The Saltine Warrior" fight song.

- And most of all, bring back the No. 44 jersey.

Gregg passed along an email about a site he he found on Facebook. There's an individual or group there passing out torches and pitch forks to rally the masses in order to reissue the No. 44 jersey to an active member of the football team:

"This is an online group devoted to restoring the number 44 as an active roster number for the Syracuse football program. The tradition of this number is legendary, and important to the Syracuse football (team) in ways that no ordinary retired jersey could ever be. It was a mistake to retire the number - not only as a recruiting tool, but because of what it means to the Syracuse community. But we can make amends - what was done, can be undone, and it's time to bring the legend back - restore 44! "

Recently right-wing smear groups have tried using guilt-by-association to connect Barack Obama to Professor William Ayers.

Here’s the truth: the smear associating Barack to Ayers is “phony,” “tenuous,“ – even “exaggerated at best if not outright false.” Ayers and Barack barely know each other. They served together on the boards of local charities, but do not know each other well.

Ayers is now professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Barack has publicly denounced the acts Ayers committed in the 1960’s (when Barack was only 8 years old).
